Twenty years ago, I go my first and best Dark Star. Since the breakout of in the previous October, I had been picking and choosing the wrong shows and always seem to be just missing it. Then Brent keeled over and I thought, shit they will never bring it back again. I will never forget the moment when those first notes were struck. The crowd response was tingling. Moments you can't explain to anyone, much less non heads. These were the moments if you were a true fan to live for. You had heard it a thousand times on a worn out maxwell played over a shitty stereo. (3-1-69 was a fave)Never able to get enough of it. Listening to every note and wondering how such chaos and interplay was made to sound just so beautiful. It was part of your DNA and defined for you who this band really was. To hear it live, finally, was a dream come true. Yea, I know its 1990, but shit man the quest was over. Jerry fucking Garcia had just answered your prayers. Love this forum. Peace.

Nicely said and glad that your quest was fulfilled on this, the final night of the first tour without Brent, and a six day run back in the Garden again. I saw this entire fall tour, and while we were missing Brent, it was great to have Bruce Hornsby there for (some of ?) these MSG shows, and I remember soaking it all in this night, as the Europe tour that followed was not in my cards.
This is a good aud for streaming:
